Something of a summit meeting of the cream of mid-1970s British prog-rock and jazz musicians, Yes drummer Alan White's solo album features Jon Anderson and Steve Howe from that band, as well as session stalwarts including trumpeter Henry Lowther and singer Madeleine Bell. "Avakak" is a shape-shifting journey through different shades of psychedelia and challenging time signatures, while Howe's guitar excursion on "Marching Into a Bottle" will delight fans of mid-period Yes. As a special bonus, Anderson contributes vocals to the pastoral "Song of Innocence," which sets the words of artist and poet William Blake to music.
