Christopher Williams Not a Perfect Man
Christopher Williams Not a Perfect Man
Producers: Christopher Williams, Chad Elliot, James Stroud, Herb Middleton, Brian McKnight.
The quiet storm hits gently with the silky, smooth vocals of Christopher Williams. Backed by a sure-footed contemporary R&B sound, with a wall of background singers and a gentle backbeat, Williams glides through NOT A PERFECT MAN. He even talks a little--low and sexy, like Barry White. The seductive production adds to an already sensual atmosphere, supplied by the inclusion of numerous love ballads.
A surprising aspect of this middle-of-the-road rhythm & pop effort is the participation of country producer James Stroud, credited with producing some of the album's best tracks, including "Down On My Knees" (a recent country hit for Trisha Yearwood). The song, like the Grammy-nominated "I Swear," transcends all genres, and works equally well in R&B, country and pop forms. "Dance 4 Me" is a slow, grinding funk number which allows Williams to show off his exemplary vocal chops. And Papa San adds a tangy dancehall flavor to "Solidarity," a track that is seemingly influenced by Marvin Gaye.
