R&B heartthrob Keith Sweat had been incorporating rappers' contributions into his songs for some time before this album, but never so forcefully as this. From the outset, its plain that this isn't just modern day quiet-storm music; the opening cut finds Busta Rhymes and Rah Digga underlining its carnality in no uncertain terms, while rapper Stringz strongly represents the female side of the story on "Whatcha Like." While some cuts on I DIDN'T SEE ME COMING are in the luxuriant, silk-sheets R&B style Sweat's fans are accustomed to, much of the album is occupied by percolating, in-your-face hip-hop production. In the end, this outing can provide a soundtrack to both a party night out and a steamy night in.
