The original Platters, heard here, were an unprecedented success in the early days of rock and roll, racking up 11 top-20 hits (including four No. 1's) in just five years. Inspired by classic harmony groups such as the Mills Brothers and the Ink Spots, the Platters grew from humble beginnings in Los Angeles into a household name. They were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990.
