With their pioneering fusion of thrash metal and hardcore, S.O.D. set a new precedent for "heavy" when they came together in 1985. Featuring Anthrax poster boy Scott Ian and drummer Charlie Benante and members of Nuclear Assault and M.O.D., the band gleefully tweaked delicate sensibilities with politically incorrect album titles like SPEAK ENGLISH OR DIE and songs called "Kill Yourself" and "Pre-Menstrual Princess Blues." RISE OF THE INFIDELS is reportedly the end of the band, and provides fans who never got to see them to properly eulogize them through a Seattle live set chock full of old favorites and a slew of tasteless "ballads" about dead rockers, as well as studio versions of two unreleased originals and two classic hardcore covers.
