With Steve Miller's GREATEST HITS 1974-1978 compilation one of his best selling albums, in 1990 Capitol Records decided to issue a companion collection (albeit 12 years after the original's release), THE BEST OF 1968-1973.
Although one song ("The Joker") appears on both albums, the track listing is otherwise completely different and focuses on Miller's early blues/psychedelic phase. The best known tracks remain the aforementioned "Joker," as well as the uptempo "Living in the U.S.A." and "Gangster of Love," but such lesser known selections as "Your Saving Grace," "Going to the Country," and "Kow Kow Calqulator" are just as enjoyable.
